angry angry rant below, don’t read if you’re gonna get offended
other things that annoy August on Hump Day:
– LOUD-AND-PROUD FEMINISTS WHO ASSUME SHIT ABOUT SITUATIONS WITHOUT THE WHOLE STORY
and yeah of course this isn’t only about feminists, but I have a buttload of those I follow so it’s in my face most often
but like seriously I care as much about equality for everyone as the next guy, and in fact can’t very well ignore equality because my empathy meter is so goddamn high. however, I take reeeeal issue with people trying to find something to point at in every. given. situation. and if you are only getting a piece of the story, you can’t smash it around until it fits into your little Box of Hatred (“THIS is CLEARLY an instance of MEN oppressing WOMEN because REASONS like MEN ALWAYS OPPRESS WOMEN EVERY TIME I SWEAR”).
I have actually witnessed Real Life Relationships wherein the woman constantly belittles her male counterpart for his (perceived by her) lack of physical attractiveness while going on and on about celebrities she finds drool-worthy, and he doesn’t say a goddamn word about females he finds attractive except for her (and yes, he gushes to her about her beauty all the time). IT DOES HAPPEN THAT THE WOMAN IS ABUSIVE WITHOUT MISOGYNY PLAYING A DIRECT ROLE. and sure, there are a lot of guys that looooove to objectify other women in front of their ladyfriend but that sure doesn’t give you the right to inject your pet peeve into the situation without knowing both sides.
yup I know what angry messages I’ll get back (along the lines of “BUT SOCIETY HAS SET HER UP TO NEED TO BE SO HARD AND COLD OR ELSE SHE’LL GET STOMPED ALL OVER BY EVIL MEN”) but really? seriously? there are guys out there who share your views on equality and they’re trying really goddamn hard to get out of the mindset they’ve been taught all their lives and to automatically blame each and every one of them for something they are trying NOT to perpetuate just
