Why I identify with Britta, or, Why I hate how the study group hates on Britta
Britta – and Troy; I’ll give him this designation too – is the only one of the study group who I see as genuinely trying to make things better. She doesn’t go out of her way to manipulate the dynamics in her favor. Even her escapades with Jeff are straightforward: she’s lonely, she knows he’s lonely, so why not? Yeah, she thinks one of the group is a psychopath, but her reaction is to find him or her so she can take care of the problem in a positive way. "Brittaing" isn’t funny, it’s sad, because she’s the most genuine one of the group (yet has to hide her true nature, since every time she’s found out, she gets made fun of) but she has to take the fall for being human.
She’s the mediator who gets laughed out of the room for her quirks, and I can heavily relate.
