book club turned out to be a discussion of privilege in which we pointed out, several times, that the very nature of a paid discussion such as that was racist; and also, the weirdness of progress: wherein life-threatening macro-aggressions ignored on the whole by society become micro-aggressions aggressively pointed out by a majority (or at the very least a privileged and vocal minority).
it was strange.
what I learned about myself: I may face micro-aggressions, but I have never chalked them up to being a woman. I’ve been a literal outsider my entire life so I’ve always assumed it was because I was weird, which has made them easy to avoid and ignore
