I have a new favorite bromance: C, my across-the-hall teammate, and his buddy D. D comes by every day to write “poop” on various surfaces in C’s office (because it’s C’s least favorite word). D also takes naps in the storage room and scratches both sides of his head at once like a mouse. and apparently takes selfies of himself near C’s office when C isn’t there. I just witnessed it. I love bromances, god damn it

things I didn’t expect, working where I do:
1. how cool it would end up being to have been two Augusts while there, with different last names and milestones.
2. how much people love to “jokingly” express their beef(s) with the company as a whole as if I can directly fix them, or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, voicing them in this super goofy apologetic “I’m sorry but I HAVE to express this or else I’m not being honest with myself” manner and thus still voicing them? like, I know you work there so I’ll be nice about it but insert quiet bubbling rage here…
I don’t really have extreme feelings about that one it’s just a thing I didn’t expect
3. loving so many human beings at one time. holding so very many expressed creative souls in my heart at once at home and abroad. wOAH
4. being at once deeply self-conscious about how trivial my work is, yet feeling constantly on the edge of Important Things, beyond the immediate applications.
5. the agony of making and giving away something hard-won, the wretchedly lonely triumph of sharing success and yet being only a temporary whole.
6. how very, very much I need Jake.
7. how at home I feel on that campus, much more so than ever at school or my old neighborhood.
8. keeping it all at arm’s length from time to time while still embracing it utterly: one of the hardest balances I’ve yet had to strike.
what if a catholic priest were to just bless the entire ocean would it turn the entire thing into holy water or do priests have an effective blessing range? does that range increase based on your level? can the pope bless the entire ocean?
