GAY MOON 2K14 is an actual zine I intend to release on or around Valentine’s Day / the early morning Feb 15 full moon! Submissions will actually wind up in a zine. This zine is actually going to happen. It’s a funny idea but it’s also the truth, just like the moon being gay.
Submit to catherine.moneycat@gmail.com. This is an address I don’t really use for other things so far (“catherine money” is a pen name, i do actually have a surname), so you can be sure what you send won’t get lost.
What should you submit? Oh, any old thing. It doesn’t have to be big. I’m not going to balk at anything big, but I’d be most comfortable with submissions under 10 pages. They can be way smaller – if I get stuff equivalent to tumblr text posts (single jokes or anecdotes, small images) I might lump a bunch together in a page. Poems, songs, videos, drawings, photos, photoshops, stories, nonfiction. Whatever you want. Hell, if you want to make memes I will even probably publish them.
Submissions will ideally be about some concatenation of: the moon; homosexuality; queerness; intimacy; otherness; community in isolation; transness; womanhood; alienation; fulfillment. If you are gay, looking at the moon and doing what comes natural will work. Trust me.
You don’t have to be credited under a specific name, or at all. We don’t have to know each other. (What a nice way to become acquainted, though!)
Here’s a short rundown of what I won’t accept:
- shock images
- slurs that don’t apply/haven’t applied to you
- material i can’t read or get someone i trust to translate
- pictures of someone else’s nudity
- or yours if you are a minor
- honestly i would sort of prefer as little nudity as possible but i’m not prepared to put my foot down on that

what if I’m not gay, or only mostly gay, can I still look at the moon and do my thing??
