UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME
———-
I hate this movie.
This very line sums up exactly why I hate it.
Don’t think I’m not all for compromises in a relationship, or for changing one’s most annoying vices in order to make someone happier. But to offer to become “exactly what someone needs” is the worst promise you can make a significant other, both because it will kill you not to be yourself and because it will turn out, in the end, that what they needed (and fell in love with) was you, not some creature living in your skin that trips over itself to be what it thinks you need.
Eeeesh.
Aspects of The Notebook are cute, I suppose, like the diary and such. But his attitude towards her – from forcing her into dating him to this promise – is creepy and unhealthy.
Anyway. Sorry. That was my anti-chick flick/The Notebook rant. =P
