apparently modern medieval scholars have no solid idea why there’s so many old paintings of knights fighting snails.  Like that wasn’t just one weird painting there’s hundreds of those.

And my favorite one here

I’m not saying humanity defeated an invasion of snail aliens in the Middle Ages but hold on wait that’s EXACTLY what I’m saying

snail aliens, or snaliens,

trying to type the US market name like “en-YUS”

If you get this, reply with 5 things that make you happy then send it to the last 10 people you have notes from your activity :)

I got this twice so I’m answering it once for both you and amekay3! also I’m not gonna send this to anyone but peoples, feel free to steal it, it’s a good meme.

so things that make me happy:

  1. writing notes to Jake and reading the ones he writes to me. that was one of those disgusting writer desires I had all my life, that I’d end up with a collection of love letters – and I’m lucky enough to live in an age where I can deliver them instantly but still separate of regular messages like grocery lists and checking in… a lot of them are on paper too and it makes me happy that I’ve got a life worthy of writing love notes.
  2. sticking my head out of the window of a moving car. amirite? dogs know what’s up. this is as good as prayer to me. in fact there are a number of road trips/journeys I only remember specifically because of the specifics of the temperature, air quality, and scent of the wind on my face
  3. moving my body to (especially very specific) music. sometimes I find it hard to get up the will to do this but when I do almost always feel wonderful. also I dance a lot in the car. and in my office chair. “seat-dancing" was the accusation a performer at a piano bar once leveled at me. I have accepted and embraced the label
  4. cooking with Jake. he’s a master with food and just dancing the intricate kitchen dance with him has helped me gain confidence with my own skills. plus it’s just amazing to watch (and smell)
  5. the thankfulness board! Jake gave me a small whiteboard a few months ago and I labeled it our Thankfulness Status Report and every night we put at least one thing on it. it’s really helped us reflect on what’s awesome in our lives, even on shitty days. plus I’ve taken pictures so I have a journal even though I haven’t kept one…it’s only sort-of chronological which is very much how my memory works so that’s cool ;D

there are so many more but I’ll let it be five.
