anoteinpink I’ve defs heard good things about the witches books. maybe that’s where I’ll go as my last desperate shot at enjoying Pratchett as an author. maybe I just don’t dig Discworld? except Maurice. Maurice was SO GOOD.

mls-classics I’d heard the same about Small Gods, hence giving it a shot now. the pseudo-friend who recommended it to me said it shook up his beliefs a bit, and so far I don’t get that vibe at all, but I could just be oblivious. I’ll put Soul Music on the list too perhaps.

anoteinpink I’m reading Small Gods. which is funny! in the “I’ve said ha ha out loud twice now” sort of way…and sometimes because of cleverness…

I made the mistake of trying to start with the ACTUAL first book (Color of Magic) and was told by Pratchett fans that was a bad idea, so quit that right away…

this isn’t the first time I’ve tried to get into a Pratchett book. despite EVERYTHING indicating that I would adore his style and the Discworlds in general, I have never managed to get past the first 1/3 of any of his novels. oh wait, that’s a lie – I loved Maurice and his Rodents. but that’s the only one so far. sigh. maybe I’m just starting with the wrong books?
