She\u2019s still trying to convince her skittish brain and body that the Starfarer is on the ground, that the raggedy ship and its raggedy crew are under the sway of the reasonable gravity of a habitable planet. It\u2019s a long process\u2014the landing and the convincing.<\/p>\n<p>Slowly, Rahab unfurls from the turret chair. When she lets out the breath she\u2019s been holding for what feels like hours, it hisses like the hydraulics on the chair as she\u2019s lowered into the Starfarer\u2019s hallway. Falcor wouldn\u2019t let her out of her gunner\u2019s chair if the ship\u2019s systems detected any enemy presence nearby; the ship is just as interested in staying alive as Rahab is.<\/p>\n<p>And thanks to a healthy dose of roguish ingenuity and MISC\u2019s built-in paranoia, the Damn Shames have just escaped certain death. Again. At least for now.<br \/>But Rahab wonders if their luck has just run out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.piratesin.space\/post\/145152343526\/a-mutiny-of-pirates-being-an-account-of-the-damn\" class=\"tmblr-truncated-link read_more\">Keep reading<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>in the grand tradition of <a href=\"https:\/\/tmblr.co\/mqwfaB_FW2KgKNEZKrHnY-A\">@theoldaeroplane<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tmblr.co\/mj3AZDLXTtxzrgJtahEkwDw\">@preludeinz<\/a> and many others before them I\u2019m sure, I am embarking on a quest to create\u2026a serial story! that\u2019s somewhat fan-fic-y! but also summed up perfectly by this cap from Bob\u2019s Burgers!<\/p>\n<figure class=\"tmblr-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/68.media.tumblr.com\/06084967b0046dfe535f73a6fec4a21e\/tumblr_inline_o80h4s4wkC1qkjx3f_540.png\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The Damn Shames are a gang of space biker pirate types, roughly representative of the #studiolife group as they are (as well as their idealized selves), who show up in such games as Star Citizen as well as my sci-fi universe (confusing, I know). They\u2019ve taken on a significant life of their own lately, and I wanted to wrangle them into a cohesive series for a while. A Mutiny of Pirates is sort of the origin story of the Shames, or at least a point of canon I can point to and say, well, I use this as a jumping off point if you want to understand all of the inevitable terrible AUs.<\/p>\n<p>AMoP incorporates a number of elements from that classic Treasure Island, though by no means do I intend to follow the book precisely. my goals are to cover all the various dynamics between the Shames in at least one way, introduce the tone and themes of this gaggle, and have a lot of fun writing about the Star Citizen universe while putting my own spin on it.
