Their gold<br \/>\ndrool and laser eyes don\u2019t impress her much anymore. After staring at them for<br \/>\nthirty-some minutes, she\u2019s decided Qi and Qat are not so much intimidating as<br \/>\nbizarrely comedic\u2014big, shaggy ursanine babies determined to get off the<br \/>\nStarfarer and back to the soft ground of Lahmu.<\/p>\n<p>She<br \/>\ndoesn\u2019t blame the oorhunds for their primal desires\u2014but if the crew can\u2019t figure<br \/>\nout how to load four more of these gods-damn creatures on board without any of<br \/>\nthem escaping, it\u2019s only a matter of time before Zaalis sends a platoon of<br \/>\nmurderers their way. And she\u2019s not going to let that happen.<\/p>\n<p>Dragon\u2019s<br \/>\nspent the last half hour manning the door to the Starfarer\u2019s cargo bay as Maude<br \/>\nand Rahab and Dog and Riph try to shoo the stubborn, reluctant oorhunds on<br \/>\nboard, one at a time through the door so the others don\u2019t escape. An elegant<br \/>\nplan in theory\u2014a disaster in practice, because oorhunds happen to be bigger and<br \/>\nstronger than any one human.
